So on my way home from work Wednesday night, my low coolant light came on. Before the car had a chance to heat up, I pulled into a gas station and got some coolant. When I left the station, the light was off, but came on again before I got on the highway. So I pulled into another gas station an called my mom. She got to the station, helped me put coolant directly into the radiator like the owner's manual suggested, and waited while I let the car run for a bit. Next thing we know, the exhaust starts smoking like crazy.. We shut it off, and leave it there.
Turns out, it blew a head gasket. We called the dealer, even though there was no warranty, and he decided to pay for the tow, got us dealer price at a garage, and paid half the repair bill. Not only that, but he got them to have the car fixed by today, which means I don't have to put off leaving for Charlotte. :)
More good news: got a call from the chef at the Charlotte City Club; he wants me to work the Democratic national convention, with a possibility of taking a pantry chef position that might be opening up :)
So... Bad thing happened, but got fixed, and something awesome happened :). All in all, not a bad end of the week
