It's amazing that it's already the end of July... I'm gonna be heading back down to Charlotte in just 27 days...
I'm excited to head back down south, but I still need to get a bunch of stuff straightened out... I need a car, a new computer, and I need to figure out how I'm going to get the rest of the money I need for school... :/
Me

- B. Christman
- I'm a Chef and writer who has an immense passion for what I do. I tend to rant and ramble on a variety of subjects, hence the title of this blog. The "in-training" part of the title comes from my belief that no matter how experienced a chef may be, he or she should always be training him- or herself and constantly striving to become better.

ACF certification
So I got something pretty awesome in the mail yesterday (didn't open it til today, so that's why I didn't post til now :p)
It's my certificate from the ACF saying that I'm now a certified culinarian. :)
I like the fact that I now have my certification, but I'm sad that I barely had to work for it. I got it for graduating from JWU's Associate program. Unfortunately, the bad students who barely graduated could have gotten the certification, as long as they filled out a form that only asked for their name, address, and email.
I guess I shouldn't complain though... I can still put CC after my name :p

Work, work and more work
It seems like all I've been doing lately is working. I don't mind it, but I'm wishing that I had more time to just relax.

You buy; I cook
Ever since I got into the industry, people have been asking me to cook them stuff. Each time, I tell them, if you buy the food, I'll cook it. Well, I finally got someone to take me up on that offer. Anna's grandparents decided that they wanted to have us over for dinner last night, and I decided I wanted to cook. They bought all the ingredients I needed, using their garden to help, and all I brought was the spices, stock and some cream. The result was chicken curry with jasmine rice, a vegetable medley and grilled naan bread (store bought and grilled at the house, but it was still a good as homemade naan)
So, if you know me in person and want me to cook, let me know and buy most of the ingredients, and you'll get something that's just as pretty as this :p

Deleting Old Posts
So I just deleted all the posts that came before I started CTC. Why? Because I'm trying to keep this blog true to what I've started using it for; a semi-professional look into the life of a chef in training. Yes, I realize that all the stuff I deleted was a part of my life, but that was before I started in the culinary industry... Also, I'm not exactly proud of a lot of the stuff that was said in those posts. I'm not ashamed of anything I said, but I need to start thinking about what would happen if a potential employer would find this blog, and I need to make sure that only a handful of things make them gag.
So, those of you that originally started following me to get relationship updates, to get updates on books I'm trying to write, or even just to see me try to be romantic on a blog, sorry, but now it's mostly gonna be foodie stuff. Granted, there might be the occasional relationship blurb, but for the most part, foodie stuff... and rants... lots and lots of rants... Assuming I don't calm myself down too much by the time I get home to type, because, let's face it, posting a long-ass rant is really hard when you have to deal with a touch-screen keyboard on an iPod.
